What is an SBA 7(a) loan?
An SBA 7(a) loan is financing made by an approved lender and partially guaranteed by the U.S. Small Business Administration. The program is designed to help eligible small businesses access financing for a broad range of business needs.
Because SBA 7(a) financing can accommodate a variety of purposes, it may provide an alternative for businesses whose financing needs do not fit neatly within a conventional commercial loan structure.
Depending on eligibility and the proposed transaction, an SBA 7(a) loan may be used for:
- Purchasing or acquiring a business
- Expanding an existing business
- Working capital
- Purchasing equipment, furniture or fixtures
- Buying or improving owner-occupied commercial real estate
- Tenant improvements
- Startup-related costs
- Refinancing eligible business debt
- Certain professional and transaction-related expenses
The appropriate structure depends on your business, financial condition, financing purpose and SBA requirements. An InBank banker can help you understand your options and determine whether SBA financing is worth exploring.
B:Side Capital supports participating financial institutions with SBA 7(a) underwriting, eligibility analysis, SBA documentation, closing support and servicing expertise.

SBA lending with relationships at the center
SBA lending can involve additional documentation and eligibility requirements compared with conventional business financing. That shouldn’t mean you have to navigate the process alone.
When you work with InBank, your relationship stays with your banker. We take the time to understand your business, your goals and the opportunity you’re pursuing. Behind the scenes, B:Side Capital provides specialized SBA expertise and loan-processing support to help us navigate the SBA 7(a) process.

What can an SBA loan help you accomplish?
Buy a business
Acquiring an existing company can be a significant opportunity—and a significant financial undertaking. SBA 7(a) financing may be used for eligible business acquisitions, providing another financing option for qualified buyers pursuing ownership or strategic expansion.
Grow your existing business
Opening another location, expanding operations or investing in additional capacity can require meaningful capital. SBA financing may help eligible businesses fund projects designed to support their next phase of growth.
Purchase equipment
From machinery and production equipment to furniture and other business assets, SBA financing may be used to purchase eligible equipment needed to operate or expand your company.
Finance commercial real estate
For qualifying transactions, SBA 7(a) financing may be used to purchase, improve or renovate owner-occupied commercial real estate.
Strengthen working capital
Growing businesses often need additional liquidity before new investments begin producing returns. SBA financing may provide working capital for eligible business purposes.

How SBA lending works with InBank
SBA financing does not need to begin with a complicated application. It starts with a conversation.
- Tell us what you’re planning: Your InBank banker will learn about your business, the financing opportunity and what you hope to accomplish.
- Explore your financing options: We’ll evaluate your needs and discuss whether an SBA 7(a) loan or another commercial financing solution may be appropriate.
- Gather the required information: SBA financing generally requires business and financial documentation so the lender can evaluate the business, transaction and SBA eligibility requirements. Your banker will let you know what information is needed for your specific request.
- Underwriting and SBA review: If SBA financing is appropriate, InBank works with B:Side Capital for specialized support with areas such as eligibility analysis, underwriting, SBA documentation and loan processing.
- Closing and ongoing support: Once all lending and SBA requirements have been satisfied and the loan is approved, we’ll work with you through closing and remain your banking relationship as your business moves forward.
All loans are subject to credit approval and applicable SBA eligibility requirements. Additional terms, conditions and restrictions may apply.

More than an SBA loan
The right financing is only one piece of running a successful business.
As an InBank client, you can build a broader banking relationship around the way your business operates—from business checking and treasury management to commercial lending, purchasing cards and other financial solutions.
That means your SBA loan doesn’t have to exist in isolation. Your banker can look across your business and help connect financing with the accounts, payment capabilities and cash-management tools you use every day.
